In a significant shift from previous practice, the Ministry of Education and Sports will release the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results while the nationwide Senior One placement exercise is still ongoing.
According to the Ministry, the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, will officially announce the UCE examination results on Friday, February 13, 2026, at State House Nakasero.
The decision follows a high-level meeting held on Wednesday, February 11 between the Minister and officials from the Uganda National Examinations Board, the body responsible for administering national examinations.
Senior One Placement Already Underway
The national placement for Senior One began today, February 12, 2026, at Lugogo, and will run for two days, concluding on February 13, 2026, in the afternoon. This means the UCE results will be released mid-process, marking the first time both activities are overlapping.
About the 2025 UCE Examinations
The 2025 UCE exams were conducted between October 13 and November 7, 2025, with a total of 432,159 candidates registered. This reflects a 12.1% increase from the previous year, underlining continued growth in the number of students completing the O-Level cycle.
This was the second examination conducted under the New Lower Secondary Competency-Based Curriculum, which combines school-based Continuous Assessment (CA) and national examination scores.
-
20% of the final grade comes from CA submitted by schools
-
80% comes from the UNEB end-of-cycle examination
The Ministry says this release schedule aims to streamline the transition from O-Level to Senior One, improve planning timelines, and enhance efficiency in the education system.
